Local Rankings Checker: Check Search Results for Any Location
Google shows different search results depending on the user’s location. A pizza place in New York ranks differently in Manhattan than in Los Angeles. But how do you check your local rankings without physically being there?
This tool generates a Google search link with UULE location encoding that simulates search results for any location. You’ll see exactly what a user at a specific place would see on Google – no VPN, no traveling required.
Local Rankings Checker
Check keyword rankings in Google for a specific location. Opens Google with location-specific results.
Start typing a city name (min. 4 characters) to see suggestions.
How it works
This tool generates a special Google search URL with location encoding (UULE parameter). When you open this URL, Google shows search results as if you were searching from that specific location.
- Results are not personalized (pws=0)
- Autocomplete is disabled (complete=0)
- Location is encoded using UULE parameter
How the Local Rankings Checker Works
- Enter a keyword: Enter the keyword you want to check local rankings for (e.g., “dentist” or “pizza near me”).
- Choose a location: Start typing a city name (at least 4 characters, in English). The autocomplete suggests matching locations. Select the one you want.
- Generate the link: The tool creates a Google search link with the embedded UULE parameter that simulates the chosen location.
- Check results: Open the generated link directly in Google or copy it to your clipboard. The search results show rankings for the selected location.
What Is UULE Encoding?
UULE is a Google parameter that encodes a geographic location within the search query. When this parameter is included in the URL, Google displays search results as if the query came from that location. The tool handles the encoding automatically and additionally disables personalized search so you get neutral results.

Background: Why Check Local Rankings?
For businesses with a physical location – restaurants, doctors, tradespeople, retailers – local search results are the most important channel for customer acquisition. The position in local results can change dramatically within just a few miles.
Why Google Shows Different Results
Google considers the user’s location, search history, and device settings when displaying results. For “barber,” a user in London sees completely different results than a user in Manchester. Without location-specific testing, you can’t assess your actual visibility in your target region.
What Should You Do With the Results?
- Check your position: Search for your most important keywords and check where your website appears in your target region.
- Analyze competitors: See who ranks above you in your area and analyze their strategy.
- Test multiple locations: If you have multiple branches, check rankings for each location individually.
- Compare before and after: Use the tool for before-and-after comparisons when implementing local SEO measures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to enter the location in English?
The integrated location database uses English names because they’re compatible with Google’s UULE system. Enter e.g., “Munich” instead of “München” or “Cologne” instead of “Köln.”
How accurate is the location simulation?
The UULE parameter simulates the location at city level. The results correspond to what a user in the city center of the chosen location would see. For more precise results at neighborhood level, specialized rank tracking tools offer higher resolution.
Are my search results personalized?
The tool automatically disables personalization via the pws=0 parameter. The displayed results are therefore as neutral as possible – unaffected by your search history or Google account.
Can I check mobile rankings with this?
The generated link shows desktop search results. For mobile results, you can open the link on a smartphone or enable mobile mode in Chrome DevTools. Note that mobile rankings may differ in some cases.
How often should I check my local rankings?
For active local SEO, a weekly check of your most important keywords is recommended. For seasonal businesses (e.g., ice cream shops, tax consultants), more frequent checks during peak season can be useful.
