Version 1.2.0 · August 2026

The largest update since launch. Google moved Gemini Notebook to a new address, and without that change the extension no longer works at all. On top of that: a Studio overview of everything Gemini Notebook has produced, a new start page, and a warning before an import runs past a notebook source limit.

Highlights

• Studio overview: everything Gemini Notebook has produced, across all of your notebooks. Audio overviews, slide decks, videos, quizzes, reports, and infographics, each with a cover image, type, status, date, and notebook. Slide decks download as PDF or PPTX. The overview also shows what you created inside Gemini Notebook itself, not only what you triggered through Deftery.
• New start page: instead of three bare numbers, a real overview with four key figures (notebooks, sources, Studio results, favorites), your recently updated notebooks, the notebooks with the most sources, the notebooks close to their limit, and four quick links. Every entry opens the notebook directly.
• Source limit warning: Gemini Notebook caps the number of sources per notebook depending on the plan. Deftery now does the arithmetic before every import and reports how many entries still fit and how many would be rejected. It never blocks; “import anyway” always stays available. You can set the plan in the settings; without it Deftery derives the limit from your largest notebook and errs toward warning too rarely.
• Filters and sorting under “All sources”: the table now shows the type of every source and can be filtered by type and by notebook, sorted by notebook, name, or type, and combined with the search, with a result counter.
• An explanation on every page: a collapsible “what this page does” panel on all working sections, closed by default. Once you open it, it stays open the next time.
• Four pages of their own instead of hidden sub-tabs: changelog, how-to, settings, and about are now separate entries at the foot of the navigation. The changelog on this page is therefore also available inside the extension itself.

Improvements

• A design pass across the whole dashboard: consistent page headers in the order heading, explanation, content (four sections had no heading at all), settings as one coherent card instead of loose rows, visible focus indication, an active navigation row marked by an edge rather than color alone, and respect for reduced-motion preferences.
• Type markers carry meaning again: previously every source wore the same strong brand color, which turned 78 sources into a wall of one hue. The default is neutral now, with quiet tones only for the types you actually want to tell apart.
• Confirmations in their own dialogs: deleting and folder management no longer ask through the browser dialogs but in a translated dialog in the style of the extension.
• About section with the real logos of the other minoka tools instead of placeholders, a link to the minoka page on LinkedIn, and the origin of the name: “defter” is the Turkish word for notebook.

Fixes

• Gemini Notebook moved to notebook.google.com. An extension follows a redirect only to addresses it holds a permission for, so without this change not a single feature worked any more. Deftery now talks to the new address and keeps the old one as a fallback.
• Notebooks whose titles contained no spaces could not be opened or filled. Deftery mistook the title for the notebook identifier; the notebooks appeared in the list as usual, but every action built on top of them failed silently.
• The popup did not respond while loading. It bound its controls only after the request to Google had finished, and for as long as that ran the offline mode of all things was out of reach.
• Sorting by “recently updated” had no effect because the timestamp was missing on every notebook. It is read correctly now.
• Every source was labelled a web page, including PDF files and YouTube videos. The type is now correct everywhere.

Removed

• Podcast export. Gemini Notebook does not hand out an audio file, only the cover image, so the feed would have stayed empty permanently. Audio overviews can still be triggered from the extension and appear in the Studio overview.

A note on this update

This update adds one host permission for the new address of Gemini Notebook. Chrome therefore asks for your consent once during the update and keeps the extension disabled until you grant it. Without the new permission Deftery cannot reach Gemini Notebook any more.

The first major update since launch: a new name (Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook), a full-page dashboard, local organization, optional on-device AI, and seven new interface languages.

Highlights

• New name: Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026; the extension is therefore now called Gemini Notebook Clipper – Deftery. The application itself stayed at notebooklm.google.com at first; since August 2026 it lives at notebook.google.com, which version 1.2.0 follows.
• Full-page dashboard: a new primary surface with seven sections: overview (key numbers and connection status), notebooks, all sources, import, audio overviews, prompt library, and settings. Opened through the “Dashboard” button in the popup.
• Local organization: favorites, tags, and folders for your notebooks plus a personal prompt library (create, edit, copy with one click). All assignments stay entirely on your device.
• Optional on-device AI: suggests the right notebook for the current page, titles text sources automatically, and separates content links from navigation links during bulk import. Runs entirely on your device, with no API key and no new permissions; if the local AI is unavailable, these features stay hidden.
• Seven new interface languages: Japanese, Korean, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, and Hebrew, 15 in total. Arabic and Hebrew render fully right-to-left.

Improvements

• Notebooks section with grid and table views, search, sorting, and a full source detail view (fixes the truncated detail view of the popup); notebooks can be created and bulk-deleted.
• Bulk and RSS import with live progress in the dashboard.
• Audio overviews with a dedicated gallery including a player and podcast RSS export. Replaced by the Studio overview in version 1.2.0.
• Settings moved from the popup into the dashboard; the popup deliberately stays lean.
• About section with richer cards for other minoka tools, each with a website and a Chrome Web Store button.

Fixes

• Popup layout: the action buttons fit fully into the popup window again after the rename.
