URL Notes
Attach context, to-do items, or research findings to any URL — and keep that context with you when you export.
Pro feature: URL Notes is exclusively available to bulkU Pro users.
Adding and Editing Notes
Adding a note is quick and intuitive.
1. Click the Note Icon
Next to each URL, you will see a note icon (📝). Click it to open the note editor for that URL.
2. Write Your Note
A text box will appear. You can write anything you want—summaries, reminders, contact information, etc. The note saves automatically as you type.
3. View Your Note
Once a note is added, the icon will be highlighted. Hover over the icon to see a preview of the note, or click it to edit again.
Searching Notes
Your notes are fully searchable, making it easy to find specific information within a large list.
How to Search
Simply use the main search bar in the “Filter & Search” section. The search will check both the URL and the content of your notes.
Use Cases
- Find a specific quote: If you have saved quotes from articles in your notes, you can search for a keyword to find the right source instantly.
- Track action items: Add notes like “TODO: follow up” and then search for “TODO” to see all your pending tasks.
- Filter by contact: If you have noted a contact person for a URL, you can search their name to pull up all relevant links.
Exporting With Notes
Your notes are included when you export your data, ensuring you never lose your valuable context.
How it Works
When you export a group as a **JSON file**, all of your URL notes are saved within the file. When you or a collaborator imports this file, the notes will be restored along with the URLs and tags.
Note: CSV exports do not include notes, as the CSV format only supports a simple list of URLs.
Best Practices for Notes
- Be consistent: Use a consistent format for your notes, such as starting to-do items with “TODO:”.
- Keep it concise: Notes are great for brief summaries, not for writing essays.
- Combine with tags: Use tags for broad categorization (e.g., “important”) and notes for specific details.
- Backup regularly: Use the JSON export to back up your notes along with your URLs.
